Coach Troy Jones is a graduate of Istrouma Senior High School & Technology Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a graduate of Southern University, BR. He is entering his 10th year coaching and his 4th year coaching at Osborne High School. While at Istrouma, he played nose guard and offensive guard. In 1992, he received the award as an All-State Nose Guard. He went on to become a four-year starter playing Fullback at Southern University, BR. Coach Jones was part of two SWAC football conference championships and 1995 Black College Football National Champions. After graduating, he joined the Winnepeg Bluebombers football team of the CFL. Because of an ankle injury, he was honored to return to his Alma Mater and worked his way up from an assistant football coach to the role as the Head Football Coach. During his journey at Istrouma High School, the team became very successful by becoming district runners-up in 2002, and then winning the district championship title in 2003 and becoming one of the State’s Quarter-Finalist in class 4-A. In 2005, he announced his plans to travel from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Marietta, Georgia to accept the challenging role as Head Football Coach at Osborne High School. Coach Jones recognizes the advantages inherent in a sound sports program. He has been diligent in providing his players with opportunities to build meaningful relationships with their peers, family, adults, and teachers. He emphasizes to his players that education is the key to success, and to always remember, “Losers Makes Excuses and Winners find A Way”. He teaches his players to always have self- pride and self- respect. Coach Jones is happily married to Dwan Jones, a teacher in Cobb County, and they have two sons, Troy (12) and Chanceller (8). |
